Retrospective: Family Photo Scanning

CK Wright General Photography

I have been busy scanning the family photos which span about 100 years.  While it is a lengthy process, it is important to preserve the photos, some of which are starting to fade. It is interesting to see that the number of photos per person or group diminishes the farther back in time.  Interesting because it mostly indicates how photographs and access to cameras has greatly increased over the last 75 plus years.  As I opened photo albums and boxes I would find surprises such as a photo of my father as a baby, or photos of relatives I have never seen. I am using an Epson flatbed scanner and it is remarkable how much detail it is able to obtain from the slides and prints. Here is an interesting photo of myself helming our sail boat in the Gulf Islands.
